"Stand Forever" Ep. 21 | The Truth—Faith in Christ | Elder Lawrence E. Corbridge

Stand Forever | Episode 23 | 47 min

Of all the laws of the gospel, is there one, which if more fully understood and applied, would generate the greatest return and benefit?

In the Lectures on Faith Joseph Smith taught, three things are necessary for faith. “First, the idea that (God) actually exists. Secondly, a correct idea of his character, perfections, and attributes. Thirdly, an actual knowledge that the course of life which he is pursuing is according to his will.”

You can’t exercise faith in a god who is incomprehensible and unknowable, or a god who is remote, inattentive, and uncaring, or a god whose job is to grant your every wish.
In the Bible Dictionary we have this:

“The Lord has revealed himself and his perfect character, possessing in their fulness all the attributes of love, knowledge, justice, mercy, unchangeableness, power, and every other needful thing, so as to enable the mind of man to place confidence in him without reservation.”

Usually when your faith is weak it is not because you don’t believe in God, rather you don’t believe in yourself—that’s the greater challenge! You accept God and His power to bless others, but you may doubt He will bless you.
